What a courteous cop to stop by and ask me how I was doing several times. If he got any inconsistent answers, then he could tell that I was under the influence. It's as good a test as watching me walk to see if I have two left feet. It's probably in their training to repeat themselves for consistency from the suspect. Different stories and answers and movements will show enough suspicion that a crime is afoot and "probable cause" is warranted to make a detainment legal and a search necessary for the safety of the cop and everyone else around. Criminals are known to be very erratic and inconsistent in their manners.
