Vietnamese fishermen encountered China's aircraft carrier Liaoning was seen sailing in the South China Sea in June, probably heading north to Sanya after passing through Sibutu Strait. The fishermen asked for permission to sail close by for an photo-op and was surprised the warship allows it. Currently both China and Vietnam has common enemy, US navy, who harass their ships constantly in the South China Sea.
